If you read my last blog post, The 2 most important optimization factors in getting high search engine rankings, then you know how important it is to get alot of backlinks from sites with using your preferred key word as your anchor text. Another key factor in getting a higher search engine ranking is getting your anchor text keyword on on high authority sites. You can determine how much authority google gives a site by looking at it's page rank.

To get higher rankings you should always try to get links from web pages with a PageRank rating of at least four. This is not mandatory but linking to higher page ranked sites will increase your search engines rankings quicker.

You should also focus on getting as many quality backlinks as possible and point about 75% them to your homepage and the other 25% to your inner pages.

In conclusion....Get as many page rank 4 or higher backlinks as you can then link to lesser page ranked sites if you feel the need to further increase the links to your blog.

Do you know the top 2 factors the determines how high you website or blog ranks in google? Not only am I going to tell you what it is, I am going to give you absolute proof using the google search engine.
Getting your site ranked high on google is determined by several optimization factors including....

The title you use to describe your website.
The description you use in description tags.
How many sites link to you.
The page rank of the sites that link to you.
Having similar content to the site that links to you.
Etc...

But the 2 most important factors that determines how high you site will rank in google are.....

How many backlinks that you have.
You Anchor text

Anchor text, as described on wikipedia , is "The anchor text, link label or link title is the visible, clickable text in a hyperlink. The words contained in the anchor text can determine the ranking that the page will receive by search engines."

So what convinces me that anchor text is the #1 determinate in google search engine rankings?
The google search engine. Let me try to prove my theory is correct and see if you agree.
The Proof.

To prove my assertions are credible lets do a quick experiment.
Go to google and type in the search term "click here". What is the first result that you see? That's right, it's "get.adobe.com/reader".
What does this prove?

Because we all know adobe is not a website about the subject "click here", this proves site content is not the most important factor in getting a top google ranking.
Because we know many people link to adobe when they offer a pdf on their download page, we also know that many people are linking to adobe.
Because we know most people use the anchor text "click here" to link to adobe, we also know that adobe is getting a lot of backlinks with the phrase " click here" as the anchor text.

When we put these three facts together we can see that adobe is ranked #1 google over 1 billion competing webpages because of two factors.

There are alot of people linking to the adobe website. (over 1 million backlinks"
There are alot of people linking to adobe with the anchor text "click".

Knowing these two facts, we can only come to one conclusion. The two most important factors in determine how well a site will rank in google for a specific keyword are....

The anchor tect used to link to that site.
How many backlinks that site has.

So in conclusion, if you want to grab the #1 spot in google for you chosing key word then you need to get alot of sites to link to your site using your keyword as the anchor text.
